A new addition to the range of family?related leave options, the “caregiver leave” allows French employees to suspend their professional activity for up to one year, under certain conditions and without consequences for their employment, in order to care for a disabled or severely dependent relative.
Leave with daily compensation
This leave is available to everyone, regardless of seniority in the company, provided that the person being cared for resides in France. The 2020 Social Security Act even provides for daily compensation: €43.83 for people living as a couple and €52.08 for single individuals.
8.3 million family caregivers in France
This measure offers valuable support to the 8.3 million family caregivers in France, nearly half of whom are employed. The goal of this reform is to give caregivers more time to look after their loved ones while limiting the negative impact on their personal and professional lives.
